What is Geocaching
Welcome to Geocaching, a high-tech treasure hunting game, played by enthusiasts in 180 countries.
Adventure seekers equipped with GPS devices try to find containers, called geocaches, by following clues you find online. The game is played by people off all ages with a strong sense of support for the environment.
What is Geocaching:
Participants use a GPS or other navigational techniques to hide and seek containers (called "geocaches" or "caches") anywhere in the world. A typical cache is a small waterproof container containing a logbook and "treasure," usually toys or trinkets of little value.
A geocachers obtains the coordinates of a hidden geocache from an Internet Website and seeks out the cache using their GPS handheld receivers. When you find a geocache, you make note of it in the logbook provided.
You can take the treasure out of the cache as long as you replace it with a treasure of similar or higher value. Common items are unusual coins or currency, small toys buttons, books or CD's.
Caches usually cannot be seen easily. Some are the same color as the object that they are hidden in or on. They can be hidden in tree trunks, among rocks, anywhere.
